Subaru Earned Four IIHS Top Safety Awards
Winning Safety Awards Since 2013
For over a decade, Subaru vehicles have earned more safety honors than any other automotive brand. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has awarded Subaru with 71 Top Safety Pick+ awards - beating the rest of the industry by a landslide. For 2024, four Subaru vehicles have continued the tradition, earning more Top Safety Pick+ awards - even as the requirements became more difficult to pass. Drivers from Thonotosassa to Dunedin can find the safe Subaru lineup at Subaru of North Tampa.
The IIHS Favorite: The Subaru Outback
For the 16th consecutive year, the Subaru Outback has earned Top Safety Pick awards. The popular wagon with the capability of an SUV and the ride qualify of a sedan is loaded with standard driver-assistance features like Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Detection, Lane-Departure Warning, Lane-Keep Assist, Lane-Centering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Adaptive Headlights, and more. The IIHS safety awards included five stars for Overall Rating, Frontal Crash, and Side Crash in all trim levels. The Outback also received a Good rating in front pedestrian crash detection.
For 17 consecutive years, the 2024 Subaru Impreza earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS. The compact is available as a sedan and hatchback with impressive cargo space - especially in its class. With the rear seats upright, the Impreza has 20.8 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats lowered, the cargo space increases to 55.3 cubic feet. To earn the Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ ratings, vehicles must meet new requirements for side impact protection, pedestrian crash detection, and moderate overlap front tests.
More Awards from Newer Subaru Models
The new Subaru EV - the Solterra - also won a Top Safety Pick award. This is the second award in the two years the Solterra has been for sale. Like the other models, the Subaru Solterra is loaded with the Subaru EyeSight partially autonomous driving system at speeds up to 25 MPH. The fully-electric Subaru SUV has a 72.8-kWh battery pack that powers the all-wheel-drive system for up to 222 miles. The safe electric SUV needs about 35 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% with a DC fast charger and about nine hours to charge overnight with a Level 2 240-volt charger.
The fourth award-winner is the 2024 Subaru Ascent, which earned a Top Safety Pick+ award. This is the seventh consecutive Top Safety Pick award for the Ascent, which is the only three-row SUV from Subaru. The capable SUV comes with the legendary standard all-wheel-drive system, a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine, and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20/26 MPG.
